G.I.T.S Handicap and Rules It is certainly not our intention of making our G.I.T.S golf days anything other than fun days where we can play some golf, meet new friends (or play with old friends), and enjoy the Andalusian sunshine. But, for good order, we need to set some rules, which most of you are familiar with anyway. So here are our G.I.T.S rules:- Handicap Rules Shots will be deducted as follows throughout a 12 months Season on all G.I.T.S golf days. Players handicaps shall be cut for every stableford point over 36 on any G.I.T.S golf day by the following:-
0 - 5.......................0.1 Any player winning a G.I.T.S golf day will automatically be cut by 1 shot additional to above. Second place will be cut by 0.5 and third place will be cut by 0.2. Any player scoring less than 32 points on a G.I.T.S golf day will receive 0.1 shot back. Scoring less than 26 points will receive 0.2 shots back and scoring less than 16 points will receive 0.5 shots back. The above scoring will apply on normal standard scratch days. If conditions are such that all players on the day shoot well below average then the points scale will be adjusted downwards. Maximum handicap shall be 28 with all handicaps being rounded up (i.e. a handicap of 15.5 shall count as 16)
All matches shall be played to the rules as approved by The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews, with such local rules that apply at The Golf Club where the match is played, and individual G.I.T.S rules applicable on the day. All matches shall be full handicap stableford format. Any prizes on G.I.T.S golf days will be for members only. Any single player will only be eligible to win one prize on a golf day. Should a winning player be eligible for a second prize in any category, then the 2nd player in that category will become eligible for the prize. This shall be the case in all categories so that 4 prizes are won by 4 different players on any golf day. In the event of a draw the player with the lower handicap shall be deemed the winner, likewise for second and third places. Winter rules shall apply on all G.I.T.S golf days. Under no circumstances will a "Gimme" be accepted on any G.I.T.S Golf Day (if it is close enough to pick up it is close enough to putt out !). Members shall be allowed to bring bring guests and will be held responsible for both their guest's handicap and general behaviour. Non members without an official handicap card will be eligible for G.I.T.S membership after playing as a guest on 2 occasions (this is to alleviate the "El Bandido" situation). G.I.T.S must be notified of any cancellations 48 hours prior to first tee off on any golf day. Failure to notify either Paul or Barry within this time will result in the member being liable for the full green fee applicable on the day. G.I.T.S Rules for New Members We are unable to accomodate complete beginners. All prospective members Must be known by an existing G.I.T.S member All prospective members must be aware of the basic rules of golf especially those concerning SLOW PLAY. All prospective members must be prepared to adhere to the G.I.T.S dress code. NO MOBILE TELEPHONES are allowed on the course unless in exceptional circumstances.
The Race To Montecastillo The No 1 player of the year (the winner of "The Race to Montecastillo") will be determined by the cumulative score of any members best three rounds of golf throughout the calendar year. In the event of a draw the player with the lower handicap shall be deemed the G.I.T.S "Player of the Year".
