Arcos Gardens – September 2018

The Arcos Gardens Gang Pose for the Camera !

A Bit of Real Spain at Arcos Gardens

When starting these little away trip pieces there is always a tendency to refer to our luck with the weather and I try not to bore everyone with this, but hey….while there was torrential rain and floods in nearby Ronda, we, a little over 80 kilometres away in Arcos Gardens, bathed in beautiful sunshine for our two days of golf.

Day 1 Winners !

And what a fabulous couple of days we had ?

As always on Golf in the Sun Away Trips our group of 48 golfers and non golfers all bought into the fun and laughter of what these trips are all about, and on this occasion we also had a 65th birthday and a 49th wedding anniversary to celebrate so many congratulations were in order for Geoff Henderson and Tony and Maribel Powell on reaching their milestones.

The golf and hospitality of the hotel staff complimented each other perfectly in this little Spanish hamlet with its quaint Cortijo Fain Hotel being a spot on meeting point after golf and for our al fresco evening meals.

On the golfing side of things many congratulations go to our day one winners of the Texas Shamble Competition, Tijmen Hopman and

Day 2 Winners !

Tatiana Buldakova and Rene and Ana Geisterfer narrowly beating John and Hazel Halliday and Gary Shingler and Jules Walton into second place.

The second day’s pair’s better ball was a success for Cliff and Diana Elliott taking the spoils from second placed Geoff Steven and Roy Martinez so well done to all for their efforts.

Nearest the pin prizes were awarded to Ana Geisterfer and Samira Hradsky, while Kurt Wayd and yours truly managed to get closest in the men’s competition.

Special thanks were in order for all of the staff at Arcos Gardens who worked very hard to make sure our every whim was catered for.  They even very kindly gave us two stay and play vouchers to use as random draw prizes for our group.  Brian and Gill Ferris and Coral Brodie were delighted to receive their gifts and are no doubt looking forward to returning in the near future.

Oh, the girls worked so hard !

So we look forward to our next outing which is the Ryder Cup visit to the wonderful Fairplay Golf Resort next month.

Many of the Arcos Gardens gang will be joining us again for that one also, but there are still a few places so if any of you are up for it then we look forward to hearing from you.

So until the next one…………….”Keep ‘em down the middle !”

Best regards,

B and M
