Argentina, Brazil and Peru – 11th to 27th October 2027

A VERY SPECIAL GOLFING TRIP TO SOUTH AMERICA TO INCLUDE TWO OF THE SEVEN WONDERS OF THE MODERN WORLD

If you have been a Golf in the Sun member in recent years you will have noticed that we have sent many golfers to South America without ourselves being part of the fun.  On returning from these trips the participants waxed lyrical about the wonders and beauty of both the golf courses and the magnificent scenery of this part of the world. To be honest, we were jealous as hell!

So, guess what?  We have decided to organise our own trip in October 2027 and hope you will think about joining us on this wonderful adventure.

So what’s it all about, when is it, and how much will it cost?

To tackle the first question, we can confirm that this trip will include visits to Argentina, Brazil and Peru.  As always on our golfing adventures, we look to combine incredible golf courses with special non golfing experiences.  On this occasion, while you will play four or five rounds of golf on some very special courses in and around Buenos Aires and Bariloche, the non golfing experiences include two of the seven wonders of the modern world, these being the spectacular Iguazu Falls, that separate the border between Argentina and Brazil, and the breath-taking 15th-century Inca citadel of Machu Picchu in the southern Andes of Peru.

While you will be playing some of the best golf courses in South America, this experience, as all of our international golf trips, also caters very much for the non golfing partners.  We also make sure there is time for you to relax at each of these wonderful and iconic destinations.

The full trip will be a 16 night 17 day adventure which will commence on the 11th of October 2027.  You will initially be staying for a single night at the 5* Melia Recoleta Plaza Hotel in Buenos Aires, before taking the short flight to the falls, where you will stay for two nights at the 5* Iguazu Grand Hotel and visit both the Argentina and Brazilian sides of the magnificent Iguazu Falls, before returning to Buenos Aires to commence the golf trip.  After two rounds of golf at the wonderful Olivos and Pilar courses, you will fly to the very beautiful area of Bariloche, where you will stay at the 5* Llao Llao Hotel for three nights and two rounds of golf at the Llao Llao and Arelauquen courses.

To finish the trip, and talk about saving the best ’till last, you fly back to Buenos Aires for one night, before flying to Peru for three nights, staying at the 5* Aranwa and Inkaterra Hotels, to explore the magic of the Sacred Valley, before ascending to another wonder of the modern world, which is the historic sanctuary of Machu Picchu.

Yes, it’s 5* all the way….

You will notice that at the foot of the page we have given three distinct prices, one to include Iguazu Falls, one for the golfing part of the trip (i.e. Argentina, to include Buenos Aires and Bariloche), and one for the Machu Picchu extension, so you can choose accordingly.

Interested ?  What golfer (or non golfer) wouldn’t be ? (see full itinerary below).

Shortly after, a guided tour of Machu Picchu, the most spectacular ancient city in the world. Built by the Inca Pachacutec, and comprising stone blocks fitted with masterful precision, Machu Picchu harmoniously blends into the mountain landscape. There are many theories as to the origins behind Machu Picchu but three of the most popular ideas include a temple to the sun, a fortress against the jungle inhabitants or a sanctuary for the Incas. This fabulous city has houses, temples, warehouses, a large central square, all connected by narrow roads and steps, and is surrounded by terraces cut into the mountain side which were used for agriculture. After the tour, return back down to the train station for the return train back to the Sacred Valley and transfer to your hotel, the Aranwa.

After breakfast, transfer to Cusco and enjoy a city tour of Cusco.

The guided tour of Cuzco will include the Qoricancha temple, the Inca fortress of Sacsayhuaman overlooking Cuzco, Qenko and Puka Pukara.

Cusco’s history extends back to before 1000 BC when the Marcavalle Culture was the dominant power; indeed organized life in the City began practically with them. In the second phase of its history, around 800BC, Cusco was home to the Chanapata culture and later developed several regional states. What is traditionally known as the Inka civilisation began around 1200 AD in its initial phase, with the first Inka, Manko Capaq and Mama Ocllo. It is also suggested that Pachakuteq, the ninth king, elaborated another foundation in 1438 which is also known as the expansive phase. Inca builders hereafter laid out the city in
the form of a puma, with the fortress of Sacsayhuaman as the head. Time for wandering through the streets of Cusco before returning back to your hotel in the Sacred Valley.
